Today was a great day of getting more familiar with Louisville and making new friends. This morning, Kim took Calvin and Teddy to the Jeffersontown Free Public Library. Calvin loves his "new li-bary" as he says. He looked hard and long for a Wiggles video. We got the last one on the shelf, a Christmas one. Cal also filled a tote bag with books. Meanwhile, Ken was exploring some job options at the seminary.
Late this afternoon, the four of us set out to explore some new parks. We went to A.B. Sawyer Park and Hounz Lane Park. Hounz Lane was especially fun because it has a stream running through it, and tall trees shading the park. Ken and Calvin enjoyed throwing stones into the creek and looking over the bridge.
We are attending Ninth and O Baptist Church (http://www.ninthandobaptist.org/). We have joined a Sunday morning Adult Bible Fellowship (ABF) at the church. We have been to the ABF twice and we love it. It is taught by Pastor Jim Meeks. He is teaching from the minor prophets this summer. The past two weeks we've looked at Joel and Obadiah.
Tonight we went to our first ABF social. It was hosted by one of the young couples in our group. We dined on grilled burgers, played in their swimming pool, and enjoyed getting to know people better. Our group is all young couples, most of whom have small children. It was such a joy tonight to connect with these wonderful people. Calvin entertained our new friends by singing the song we taught him as we were preparing him for our big move: "Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold."
Calvin got his first bee sting tonight at the party! He was so brave, though. He only cried for a couple of minutes. However, two hours later, on our way home, he said, "A bee hurt me!"
